Tips on How to Prepare for Cap and Gown Picture Day

General Cap and Gown Guidelines

For Cap and Gown portraits, parents often expect a traditional, buttoned up look that may be much different than our Picture Day portraits. Our goal is to take great photos that meet the expectations for both the school client and families!

  • Check in with your school contacts to confirm what kind of look your school has planned for.  Most schools prefer a traditional, posed portrait for the yearbook.

  • Wear a collared shirt or high-necked blouse. Sweaters or hoodies appear bulky under gowns and low cut shirts are hidden completely. Come prepared!

  • If you forget a collared shirt, don’t fret! We bring backup collars called dickeys and stohls for you to put on under the gown.

  • Because Cap and Gown portraits are frequently used for a Yearbook, please make every effort to have your student at Picture Day
